JALABAO CUBAN HOT SAUCE REVIEW FROM SAUCE MAFIA

First saucey review of 2024 @barbaromojo coming in Que barbaro!

This Cuban hot sauce is an ode to #mojo and a family recipe, Jalabáo is at the table.

Made with distilled vinegar, jalapenos, tomatoes, sweet onion, garlic, green bell, mojo criollo, salt, lemon juice, and spices.

Flavor profile: Mild heat, great pepper flavor front the jalapenos and tons of citrus notes and tang, rounding out with garlic on the back end. Pairs with breakfast foods, tacos, skirt steak, chips and dips. Make sure to check out their whole lineup, I will have some other taste tests soon.

Tang and Taste rating: 4/5🔥🌶️

Gettin' my mojo on tonight! Bacon & Rosemary Pork Loin Chop with some "Jalabao" Hot Sauce from Barbaro Mojo!

OMG! This sauce is so delicious and perfect for pork!

"Jalabao" combines lots of jalapeño peppers, green bell peppers, tomatoes, sweet onions, and a secret blend of Cuban spices! I believe the star of this sauce is that delicious sour orange Cuban marinade (mojo), which is outstanding! Highly recommended!

Great job Mario!

If you enjoy hot sauce as much as I do for pumping up more flavor while contributing health benefits and speeding up the metabolism to help with weight loss, then you know how different those sauces can be. Those longing for extra freshness along with that nippy edge would love Cuban hot sauce to give food a different sort of spicy kick that is delicious.

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated.  Opinions are solely mine. **

The reason Cuban hot sauce is special is because the recipes start with a mojo, which is popular in Latin food. This type of Spanish influenced sauce such as the ones sent for this review from Barbaro Mojo that all start with a sour orange marinade for the base.

My first such hot sauce I’ve ever tried was from Barbaro Mojo was their Jalabáo. This sauce offers the mildest heat with jalapeño and green peppers, tomatoes, sweet onions, and Cuban spices that round it out beautifully. I sampled this the first time on my scrambled eggs.

El Havanero is the brand’s medium heat sauce that features habanero peppers, red peppers, tomatoes, onions, Cuban spices against that mojo marinade. I tried some of this on my homemade pizza and it was delicious with plenty of heat against tangy refreshing flavor. However, I advise a tall glass of milk to be kept nearby because this is liquid fire in the mouth. Yet, once you sip the milk, you can enjoy how the ingredients in this recipe come together to percolate into something with awesome taste.

I had expected Barbaro Mojo’s Best Day Ever sauce to be the hottest of these three hot sauces. However, I was shocked that despite its powerful mix of habanero and reaper peppers in this sauce, it wasn’t as hot as the El Havanero. This one has a small hole to shake it out unlike the El Havanero with a larger hole that pours out. I really enjoyed this one on another piece of my pizza. In fact, I kept the bottle nearby and continued to sprinkle on more of this delightful sauce.

Hot sauce lovers definitely need to check out Cuban hot sauce because you just may be surprised at all the wild zing in store for your taste buds. My advice is to visit Barbaro Mojo’s website to give these sauces a try. You will be so glad that you did.

Jalabáo
Taste: 9 - Extraordinary
Heat: Strong 3 - Mild Medium
Check them out @barbaromojo

This sauce gives off the aroma of bright jalapeños, garlic, and lemon. The pour is medium with a good amount of texture from pepper chunks, skins, and a few seeds. The flavors that come through are the mojo criollo upfront and throughout with the jalapeño brightness coming in the middle and finishing with a nice lemon garlic on the backend. The heat on this one was all tongue heat with it providing a nice bite on the top of the tongue.

Taste: 9 - Extraordinary
This sauce was way better than I was expecting and I absolutely love it. I’m always down for some bright jalapeño flavors and this sauce delivered on that while also introducing great mojo criollo flavors. The way the sauce transitioned from the mojo criollo upfront with a citrusy garlic to the bright flavors of the jalapeño was does beautifully, and the ending with a nice garlic and lemon on the backend really stuck around for a while. This sauce had great flavors that lingered and made me want to go back for more even minutes after the initial wave. Being super nit picky I’m not the biggest fan of pepper skin textures in the sauce, but again that’s easy to look past and really the only thing that keeps this unique and beautiful sauce from scoring higher.

Heat: 3 - Mild Medium
This sauce really hit that balance between flavor and heat. It provided a nice tongue burn that poked at the tip of the tongue for quite a while, but didn’t build too much. I think my nose was about to run, but that’s due to the volume of sauce that I tried because I kept going back for more for the flavor.
